Marlies Buhler
This creative thinker enjoys her new chapter in life.
Literature, art, music, theatre – Marlies Buhler loves it all. As a Fox Hill condominium owner, she also enjoys being able to attend events with friends whenever she likes. “Everything is more fun when you do it with somebody else. I am very pleased I have made this change and I wouldn’t want it another way.”
Before she became a condominium owner in 2014, Marlies lived alone for 11 years after her husband passed away. She was especially attracted to Fox Hill’s location– only two miles away and near her daughter and grandchildren – and the people who lived there. “They are highly educated, thus Fox Hill offers a variety of things that I am interested in. That appealed to me very much.”
An avid reader, Marlies loves poetry, literature and art classes at Fox Hill. She also enjoys the ease of riding on the Fox Hill bus with friends to attend performances at the Kennedy Center, Ford’s Theatre, the Folger Shakespeare Library and Strathmore as well as trips to museums and galleries such as the National Gallery of Art and the Freer Gallery. “There is something for everyone,” she says.
A native of Germany who also lived in Italy, Marlies enjoys Fox Hill’s annual Oktoberfest and other events celebrating cultures around the world. “I wanted to make a move while I could still get adjusted to having a new lifestyle while I was still capable of enjoying it and taking advantage of it,” she explains. “This is a new chapter in my life, and I love this chapter!”
