Anneliese Wilkerson
A world traveler feels at home at Fox Hill.
Originally from Austria, Anneliese Wilkerson has traveled the globe. Her husband, John, was a scientist and oceanographer and they explored Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China and Hawaii together after his international conferences. They journeyed to every country in Europe, cruised all the way around South America and traveled aboard the Concord and QE2. Avid skiers, they hit the slopes across the United States and Europe.
Although Anneliese is a world traveler, she didn’t have to go far to find the right place to live. Fox Hill is about four miles away from her former residence of 49 years and close to her two children and four grandchildren. “We checked out any retirement community within 10 to 15 miles in Maryland and D.C. and this is far and above any that we could choose,” she explains. “Fox Hill is incredibly wonderful.”
Since her husband is now in memory care at Fox Hill, Anneliese has put traveling on hold so she can visit him daily. However, she finds plenty of interesting things to do in the area and enjoys going to restaurants, the theatre and the opera. At Fox Hill, she leads two clubs and enjoys Foreign Affairs lectures, special events and dining with friends. “You could stay busy here from morning until night with no problem,” she says.
A former corporate executive and REALTOR,® Anneliese says, “The diversity of the professions here is phenomenal. Government officials, ambassadors, doctors, lawyers, scientists, CEOs, teachers – every walk of life.” She became a Fox Hill condominium owner in 2013 and makes it a priority to personally welcome newcomers. “I’m a great advocate for Fox Hill.”
